New Parents

Congratulations on becoming a parent!

Having a new baby is truly a magical experience, but it not always an easy one. Here we are going to introduce you to some of our services and let you know the different opportunities available to you.

Have you registered with your Local Children Centre?

Children’s Centre’s bring together childcare, early education, health and family-support services for families. Please complete and return a Children’s Centre Registration Form and receive your free Welcome Pack*. There are many sessions and activities that you may find both informative and helpful.

  • Are you expecting a baby? Our midwife is available at different times and sessions to help with antenatal advice and information.
  • Do you have a brand new addition to your family? Why not come along to ‘Child Health Clinic’ to have Baby weighed and meet the Health Visitor, or ‘Welcome Baby New Experience’ to meet other new parents/carers.
  • Do you have children that may enjoy ‘Parent and Toddler’ or ‘Sing along’?

Take a look at our timetable page to see the full list of activities.

*Welcome Packs subject to availability – Will be issued to you by a member of our Outreach and Family Support Team.

Are you thinking about Daycare in the future?

Returning to work or study may not be at the forefront of your mind right now, but if you need to look for child care in the future you may want to start considering it soon. There are a range of services open to you but there are lengthy waiting lists. At The Lloyd Park Centre and Higham Hill we offer flexible daycare, sessional care (pre-school) and breakfast and teatime provision. Please click on the appropriate link to download the Registration Form.

It is important to visit a number of settings to find the right one for you and your child. You can book a tour of The Lloyd Park Centre or Higham Hill Children’s Centre in advance by contacting our administration team.

For a full list of the day care settings in Waltham Forest please contact the Family Information Service on 0208 496 3000.

Would you like the services of a Childminder?

Another option open to you is a childminder. We do have a Childminding Network Coordinator who can offer advice and put you in touch with an appropriate minder. For any advice regarding this please either call or e-mail one of the Centre’s and we will be in touch in the near future.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
