Another outstanding! On Wednesday 11th June 2015 The Llody Park Centre Nursery had an unannounced inspection from Ofsted and we are pleased to inform you that we have now been rated Outstaning in all areas of our work. This is richly deserved as all the staff from both Centres do a fantastic job and work very hard to ensure all families have the best experience.

I would like to invite you to our Annual General Meeting on 14 October (7.30pm). The Lloyd Park Centre is a registered charity. Our members are you - parents and carers of children who use our services, and the community around those families. You are The Lloyd Park Centre. The AGM is a chance to elect our Management Committee for the next year and also a chance to find out more about what The Lloyd Park Centre does and get involved if you want to.
Thirty years’ ago, a group of local parents founded an action group to improve facilities and provide play and childcare for local children. Fast forward thirty years and now we are a large and successful charity. We run day nurseries for children 0-5 at Lloyd Park and Higham Hill, and we also run term time breakfast and tea-time clubs, and holiday clubs for local school children. We are proud to run the local authority Children’s Centre contract for the cluster of William Morris, Chapel End and Higham Hill wards, with a team of specialist outreach staff working with, and supporting local families. We run a training agency which provides skills and job opportunities in childcare for local people, and over and above all this, both our centres in Lloyd Park and at Higham Hill are hubs of community activity, with a diverse range of activities taking place which respond to and reflect the needs of local people: these include a Baby Bank, Dads’ Club, free community Grow Wild sessions, a breast feeding support group, job club, Baby Massage and yoga to name but a few! At the heart of our philosophy is that these services are designed and developed to meet the needs of our community.
In our constitution, the management committee consists of three Officers (Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary) and up to nine voting members; the committee can also co-opt up to three members for their particular skills; however 60% of all members must be parents/carers of the Centre. In addition we have sub groups for Fundraising & Events, Personnel & Finance, Children’s Centre Advisory Board, Higham Hill Day Care, Governance & Accountability and Outdoor Areas. All the groups require representation of our user groups to ensure that our priorities and services reflect the needs of the community we serve.
We really need your help. We would strongly encourage you to attend the AGM, and consider standing for one of our committees. Without your input the charity cannot operate. We welcome a wide range of skills and backgrounds so do please consider standing – in particular finance, human resources and bid-writing would be particularly helpful additions – but whatever you feel you have to offer, it would be most appreciated and beneficial to our work. If you want to talk more about this, do speak to any member of the team.
