LPC Outdoor Area

The Lloyd Park Centre

The outdoor play areas at The Lloyd Park Centre are going to be redeveloped over the next few years into exciting, educational and attractive playspaces.

The first area to be completed will be the new ‘Nature and Risk-taking Playspace’ that will hopefully be completed by September 2011. The play opportunities that this space will offer are vast and will be utilised by the existing users of the Centre, for targeted sessions (through our Multi- Agency Team) and also for public access.

This web page will be regularly updated to inform everybody of the progress of this very exciting project!

The progress to date:

If you are local to the Centre and visit Lloyd Park, you may have noticed that the boundaries of the Centre have recently changed. In agreement with The London Borough of Waltham Forest, we have now undertaken a mutually beneficial land swap to enable both parties to make the best of the opportunities on offer.

The Nature and Risk-taking Playspace will be located in this newly acquired land and has now been split into two phases. The first phase consists of the building and toilet facilities and a small proportion of the landscaping to support its use. Partial funding for these elements has been achieved through an application to The London Borough of Waltham Forest who are managing the ‘Sure Start Early Years and Childcare Capital Grant’. This section of the scheme will be implemented by March 2011 (plan no: 0311_SK41). The building will allow the playspace to be opened independently from the main centre and will house the necessary toilet facilities to enable this to happen (plan 0311 GA02).

The aim is for the remainder of the scheme to be implemented by September 2011 but this is dependant on our other funding application to Natural England ‘Access to Nature Fund’.
