The Centre was formally known as Lloyd Park Under 5's Centre established in 1987, starting as a Parent and Todder Group. After a lot of hard work and support we obtained extensions to the building enabling us to provide many of the services we have today. In 1997 we organised our biggest project in raising the money to purchase a purpose-built building ensuring that the Centre remains for many years to come.
In 2002 we secured the money through a range of funders:
- The Community Fund
- New Opportunity Fund (Building Neighbourhood Nurseries)
- Sure Start
- The London Development Agency
- Children Centre
In April 2004 the Lloyd Park Under 5's Centre became The Lloyd Park Centre changing its legal status to a Company Limited by Guarantee. We remain a registered charity and are inspected by OfSTED. We moved into our new building on the 19th July 2004.
In 1994 we became the first group in Waltham Forest to be accredited by the Pre-School Learning Alliance for assuring quality in Pre-School education.
The main aim of the Centre is to meet the needs of the Community providing services for Under 5's and their carers.
In June 2005 The Lloyd Park Centre and Higham Hill Sure Start was designated a Children's Centre covering Higham Hill and William Morris wards.
The Lloyd Park Children's Centre is the designated name for the Children's Centre.
Children's Centres are places where children under 5 years old and their families can receive a seamless holistic integrated service and information, and where they can access help from a multi-disciplinary teams of professionals.
